In the name of God, amen, I Christian Allemong of the county of Jefferson and state of Virginia calling toi mind uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, but being of sound and perfect mind and memory, and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God, to bless me with, do hereby make this my last will and testament [unreadable] and from following, to wit, that is to say;
st I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid
nd I give and bequeth to my beloved wife Fanny, one bed, beadstead and bedding, her choice, to her, her heirs & assigns.
rd I desire that immediately after my death my executator hereinafter named, shall after giving reasonable notice, sell all my estate, both real and personal, with the exception of my slaves and the bed named above, upon the most advantageous term that can be obtained and the money arising from such sale, I desire that four thousand dollars shall be put [] on interest, and the interest annually paid to my wife Fanny for her support, during her natural life (but as it will probably be a considerable time before the above named four thousand can be thus put out and the interest drawn upon it, I will and direct that until such time as the aforesaid four thousand dollars can be placed at interest, that my executor shall pay of the first monies received out of the proceeeds of my estate, the sum of two hundred and forty dollars per annum to my wife and continue to do until she can annually receive of the said four thousand dollars, so placed at interest for her benefit. At her death I desire that the said four thousand dollars shall be equally divided between all my children, to wit: Elizabeth, Sarah, Ann, John, Henry, Mary, Catherine and Samuel. I desire that if Basil Claspill, the husband of my daughter Ann, is living at the time of the division of the aforesaid four thousand dollars, that the division of the said []: five hundred dollars may be placed in the hands of my son Henry and that the said Henry pay to the said Ann fifty dollars thereof per annum. But if the aforesaid Claspill die before the said five hundred dollars has been paid to her, she shall then receive the whole amount of what may remain thereof, and it is also my will and desire that the surplus of my estate (after taking out the said four thousand dollars) and the amount hereinafter bequethed to my slaves, shall be equally divided between all my children. If any of my children die before the said division is made I will and desire that the children of such child shall receive the dividens to which the parent would have been entitled had he or she lived. The dividend of my daughter Ann (if Basil Claspill is living at the time of the division, to be placed in the hands of my son Henry [ ] whole amount of the remainder, but if the said Ann does not [] Claspell, whatever may remain of my bequest to her is to be equally divided between her children. I especially desire & will that each and every clause I have made with regard to my daughter Ann be done as I have directed.
th I will and desire that all my slaves, to wit: Daniel, Mary, SUsan, Jane, Sarah, Henry, Samuel and George, shall be liberated and set free at my death and that my executor apply, out of the proceeds of my estate, two hundred dollars (if he finds that sum is not sufficient then fifty dollars in addition thereto) to their removal to the colony at Liberia. If any of them will not agree to go Liberia and they are not permitted by the law to remain in this country, such as may be unwilling to go shall be sold and the money equally divided among all my children, but if the laws of the country will permit the said slaves to remain here, they are not to be sent to Liberia but remain here and my executor pay to Daniel & Mary each one hundred dollars of the money he was otherwise to have applied to their removal
th It is my will and desire that in the division of my estate amongst my children as heretofore directed, that none of them shall be made to account for any money or goods that I have advanced to them, or any of them or that they have in anywise received from me previous to my death
th Lastly I hereby constitute and appoint and nominate my dutiful son, John Allemong (if he is living in this country at the time of my death, if he is not, then I nominate and appoint my son Samuel in his stead) sole executor of this my last will and testament, hereby [] and annulling all forms or other wills by me heretofore made.
