Husband: Christian ALLEMAN |
Born: about 1691 Notes: Christian was born in Canton Berne, Switzerland and returned with his parents to the Palatine where the ancient family had lived for generations until defeated by Clovis, King of the Franks in 471. The German genealogist, Goelzer, could not find what happened to Christian Allemong after he left the Palace in Diedendorf, Alsace. All that could be found was a census of children attending school, but it proves his lineage. Christian Alleman, and his two sons, John and Christian, left Europe aboard the Ship Leathley, qualified on 19-Sep-1763. Christian was listed on the ship’s “A” list, The Captain’s List; while his two sons, John Frederick Christian Allemann and John Christian Alleman, were on the ship’s “B” list, Oath of Allegiance, and the “C” list, Oath of Abjuration (against the Pope).* Apparently, there was a Hermon Alaman, and his son, Harm, also on this ship. There is no record of what happened to them, nor if they fit into this line. Issue: 1 - John Frederick Christian Alleman 2 - John Christian Alleman * Pennsylvania German Pioneers, Hinke-Strassburger vol. 1, page 536 - “[List 202A] A List of Male Names on Board the Ship Leathley, 19th Sept 1753.”, page 537 [List 202 B] List Foreigners imported from Hamburgh in the ship Leathley, Captain John Lickley, were qualified at the Court House, Wednesday, 19th Sept 1753. |
